This release is a repress of 'Kraftwerk - Radio-Aktivität'. The original release comes with same disc design, but without a Mould SID Code and a different barcode. There is also a 'Kraftwerk - Radio-Aktivität' release with the same disc but a different barcode. [Back sleeve] ℗ Kraftwerk KLINGKLANG KLINGKLANG PRODUKT 75 Ralf Hutter & Florian Schneider [Booklet backside] EMI Electrola [logo].
'Radio-activity' or 'Radio-aktivitaet', the album is probably most important for placing the group into multilingual territory. Delivered in German and English, it is also one of the more notorious (at least to some extent) chapters in the group's excellent discography - while 's version of the title song delivers warnings regarding exposure, the original album's concept seems at odds.
This misunderstood album deserves a re-release on CD somewhere. The German version is far more coherent than the insipid translation on the one sold in the USA. Even if we just give Kraftwerk's lyrics to Alta Vista, we can see that Radio-Aktivitat is less an anti-nuke protest, though the title track was redone as one later, and more a dreamy evocation of short wave radio/5(25).
